The fashion world is abuzz with excitement as the BRICS+ Fashion Summit and Moscow Fashion Week 2024 take center stage in the heart of Russia. This year's events have broken boundaries, inviting participants from beyond the BRICS nations and showcasing an impressive array of global talent. Among the esteemed guests is Tanga Designs, a rising fashion brand from Rwanda, ready to make its mark on the international scene.

The BRICS+ Fashion Summit serves as a melting pot for industry leaders, designers, and fashion enthusiasts from BRICS countries and beyond. It's a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing the latest trends, and exploring new business opportunities within the global fashion industry. The organizers have promised an astounding 83 fashion shows over six days, signaling an influx of fresh talent and groundbreaking designs.

Tanga Designs, helmed by founder and creative designer Niyitanga Olivier, is poised to make waves at Moscow Fashion Week 2024. Their presence represents not just a brand, but the rich cultural heritage of Rwanda on a global stage. Niyitanga expressed his excitement, stating, "I am honored to see TANGA invited to be a part of the prestigious BRICS+ Fashion Summit this year, showcasing creativity on a global stage. It's inspiring to see the fusion of tradition and innovation coming alive in Moscow, with TANGA standing tall among the global fashion elite."

The first day of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit set a promising tone for the future. Guest speakers shared their views on the forum and their takeaways from this year's event. Hassanali Mustafa, Chairman of the Tanzania Fashion Association and Swahili Fashion Week, remarked, "I'm delighted to be here. This is a representation of different cultures from around the world. I met people from Cambodia, Fiji, Panama, Honduras, Vietnam, Lesotho, Algeria, Libya, and many more countries. I hope more countries will come to the BRICS+ Fashion Summit."

Echoing this sentiment, Hussain Sagar, a journalist from Bangladesh, noted, "BRICS+ Fashion Summit is very useful for us, for Asian countries. It's great to have some Indian culture and some Bangladeshi culture here. And I have already found something for myself in the culture of the country, in Moscow. This is really cool. I've also talked to friends and colleagues, and they've told me that they feel something similar. I feel that the BRICS+ Fashion Summit is an event that lays the groundwork for new ventures."

A highlight of the event is the "Heritage" International Exhibition at Concert Hall "Zaryadye," showcasing cultural fashion from BRICS+ countries. Curated by Olga Mikhailovskaya, the exhibition brings together more than 40 distinguished designers from BRICS nations and developing countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Visitors can expect to see over 150 mannequins dressed in unique garments that reflect the diverse heritage of these regions, complemented by multimedia displays showcasing the creative processes of artisans.

The foreign participants of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit have unanimously agreed on the need for sustainable business partnerships and cultural exchange. The summit has proven its significance by opening new horizons for collaboration in the fashion industry.

For Tanga Designs and Niyitanga, this event represents a unique opportunity. Speaking to Fashion Trends Africa, Niyitanga expressed his pride in representing Rwanda: "I am very happy to be here and take part in these events as Tanga Designs from Rwanda. I know I am here by myself, but I am also here representing my country and, of course, Made in Rwanda."

Niyitanga sees the event as a treasure trove of learning opportunities and new connections. "This is among the top world-class fashion events talking about fashion and its future. It also brings many investors and artists, so for me, I will gain a lot from the event plus showcasing who I am and what I can do with my talents."
